Whole body cold laser Prism Light Pod vs Handheld Class IV Warm Deep Tissue Laser

Which type of light therapy should you get?

We have two types of laser light therapies in our Lakewood Ranch office.

The first is a hand-held treatment device, registered as a Class IV laser, that emits a warm deep tissue laser beam about 1″ round. It pushes large amounts of energy into the cells of your body in a concentrated beam.

The second is a full-body device that uses cold laser therapy and can treat the entire body in just 20 minutes. The light is powerful enough to penetrate deeply, but it comes out more slowly and therefore does not produce heat. Hence “cold laser” vs “warm laser”.

They both do a fantastic job at helping to reduce inflammation and pain to improve your quality of life. Both are evidence based and scientifically sound. So which should you get?

Reason for Treatment

Are you looking for FULL BODY pain relief, athletic performance and recovery speed, bio-hacking for more energy and less fatigue, or have multiple areas of pain? Full body cold laser with the Prism Light Pod is a great choice.

If you have one particular area of pain, arthritis, injury, hand-held laser is a great choice. So is the full body pod.

If you are pregnant, have cancer, or otherwise aren’t a good fit for the full body light pod, the hand-held may be better.

Treatment Time

If you have just ONE area of pain, the hand-held laser can treat it in 8-12 minutes. (Example: neck pain. We treat the cervical spine and muscles around them as well as the left and right upper traps/shoulder area.)

If you have more than one area of pain, hand-held laser can take up to 30 minutes to treat 2-3 areas. (Neck pain, lower back spasms, and an arthritic knee, for example.)

People who have multiple issues often prefer to treat them at once in a 20-minute session.

Number of Sessions

The number of sessions needed with both is comparable for most injuries and issues.

For acute pain and injuries, treating more frequently (sometimes multiple times in the same day) works very well. Pain from an injury may need 3-6 treatments depending on the severity. A bad car accident with multiple injuries may need a month or two of treatments at three times per week.

More chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia pain, arthritis, RA, etc. get treated 2-3x/week.  Chronic pain from an old injury may take 12-20 sessions to get a long-lasting breakthru.

Pain from a degenerative condition (such as rheumatoid arthritis) may need sessions over the course of their lifetime to maintain their results. Their body continues to “attack” itself. We can reduce inflammation and pain, but the processes behind the disease will remain active in many cases.

Those who use the full body cold laser pod from Prism Light Pod for performance and recovery enhancement usually visit 2-3/week for best results. Remember, it’s only 20 minutes! And you visit us on appointment, so the pod is reserved for you! No waiting.

Cost

We offer a mini-consultation and demonstration on ONE area FREE of the hand-held laser. Hand-held laser therapy costs $85 for 1-3 areas. (If you come to see Lizz, the owner, it’s included in her hourly rate; everyone else it’s a la carte.) Packages of 10 save 10%, packages of 20 save 20% and you can come as many times as needed (by appointment) in a month’s time for $700.

The full body laser session costs $10-$50 depending on what package you buy. Most people start with the trial pack. 3 sessions for $99. Others come in for a single session to try it out, which is $50. Monthly and yearly memberships allow up to 12 visits per month (3 per week) and greatly reduce the cost of each session and run from $400/month to $3000/year.

Verdict?

What did you decide? Did one seem to be a better solution than the other for you? Did both sound amazing? Guess what–you can do both! The full body laser to get overall wellness benefits and reduction of pain and inflammation, with spot-treatments from the hand-held laser as needed.
